What’s New and Planned for Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Release Wave 1

Dynamics 365 Business Central is a comprehensive business management solution for small and mid-sized organizations that automates and streamlines business processes. In this blog post, we’ll highlight some of the new and planned features for Business Central in 2024 release wave 1, which covers the period from April 2024 to September 2024.

Overview

The 2024 release wave 1 plan for Business Central focuses on four main investment areas:

  • Seamless service: Business Central delivers a reliable and secure service that can scale with your business needs and comply with various regulations. In this release, you’ll see improvements to the service availability, performance, security, and compliance features.
  • Application: Business Central enhances the core finance and supply chain capabilities with several optimizations and new features that help you execute your business processes more efficiently and effectively. For example, you’ll be able to use the new bank reconciliation feature to match bank transactions with ledger entries, use the new inventory valuation feature to calculate the cost of goods sold and inventory value, and use the new item attributes feature to define and manage product variants and specifications.
  • Better with Microsoft 365: Business Central integrates seamlessly with other Microsoft 365 applications to boost your productivity and collaboration. In this release, you’ll be able to use the new Outlook calendar synchronization feature to sync your Business Central activities with your Outlook calendar, use the new Excel templates feature to create and update data in Business Central using predefined Excel layouts, and use the new Teams app feature to access and share Business Central data within Microsoft Teams.
  • Country and regional: Business Central expands its global reach and local relevance by adding support for more countries and regions, as well as enhancing the existing localizations. In this release, you’ll be able to use Business Central in BrazilIndiaIsraelSouth Africa, and Taiwan, and benefit from the updated tax, reporting, and banking features for the existing countries and regions.
